ABOUT

Many of Nina Ansari‘s works are based on her own biographical background. Born in 1981 in Tehran, as a four-year-old she experienced the war between Iran and Iraq, and finally the migration to Germany. She studied with honor at the Academy of Art and Design in Offenbach am Main, Germany. In 2007 she received the Erasmus Grant for Faculty of Fine Arts Barcelona.Nina Ansari’s artistic activities are characterized by a thematization of topoi like identity or remembrance – thereby corresponding to very different kinds of artistic expression and media. In her drawings, photographs, paintings and installations, she explores the fragility of identity and memory as well as the constructions of reality allegations and closed realities. Her experimental practice can be seen as both a material testing ground and conceptual laboratory that investigates diverse personal, social and political themes. Nina Ansari opens up an associative space to the viewer, that allows everyone to see something different in the respective scenes, and with a little patience, the viewer can immerse in the depth of the images. Nina Ansari received several sholarships like DAAD Faculty of Fine Arts Barcelona 2007/08, A Word of Art Africa 2011, Art, science and technologie center CAMAC (working scholarship provided by the French government) 2016 and has presented her works in solo shows and group exhibitions, like as the Museum Arsenals of Contemporary Art of Riga, Kunstverein Familie Montez, 21er Haus Museum für zeitgenössische Kunst, National Gallery of Macedonia, UGM Maribor Art Museum and Haus der Kulturen der Welt.
